Ada Gordan Wray

Mrs. Ada Gordon Wray, daughter of the late Lawrence and Louise Gordon was born in Rutherford County, NC on September 3, 1921. She departed this life on May 7, 2014 at Presbyterian Hospital. She was a faithful member at Saint Paul Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board, Gospel Choir and the Hospitality Committee for many years. She worked in the dry cleaning service in the surrounding Charlotte area until her health no longer permitted. She was married to the late John Wray and had two children, Opal Simmons and Lawrence Wilkins both who preceded her in death along with one brother, Lawrence Gordon Jr. She is survived by five grand children, Eddie Simmons (Mitzie), Ginger Hall (Wayne) Stephen Simmons (Sharon), Constance Simmons and Ivy Ratcliffe (Sincere), four nieces, Lynn Brown Smith, Martha Brown, Bendetta Brown, Loretta Martin and her devoted sister in law Nellie Brown. She had 16 great- grandchildren and a host of neighborhood children. Funeral Service will be Monday, May 12, 2014 at St. Paul Baptist Church at 12noon. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will be in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
