Alfred Mcclure, Jr.

Mr. Alfred (June) McClure, Jr. was born to the late Alfred Shield McClure, Sr., and Pattie Mae Mills on September 9, 1938 in Charlotte, North Carolina. God called Alfred to his heavenly home on December 19, 2021.

Alfred was affectionately known as “June,” “Cousin Shorty,” “Al” and “Coon.”  He was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg school system.

Alfred was employed with The Charlotte Observer as a foreman for over 35 years.

Alfred was a faithful member of The United House of Prayer and served on the Usher Board.

Alfred was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah A. McClure and brother, Jimmy McClure.

Alfred leaves to cherish his fond memories: loving wife, Loretta L. McClure; daughters, Doris McClure, Carol Green, Charlene McClure and Keshia Boyd; son, Deverick McClure; grandchildren, Ruquiyah (Bradford) Gillens, Keyonna Haynes, Tavares McClure, Desmon Green, Quartez McClure, Darrell Reid and Chavia McClure.

Great grandchildren, Deborah Gillens, Gaius Haynes, Jaiden Harris, TaNasia McClure, Ezra Harris, MaKenzie Green, Michael McClure, Madison Reid and Mason Reid. Siblings, Rev. Johnny McClure, Mary Cooper, Sarah Stitt and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
