Alice Lorene Baker Howard was born on January 26, 1942, in the Angelus Township of Chesterfield County, SC to the late Charlie Mack Baker and Josephine Robinson Baker. Alice accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC where she served on the usher board. She worked at Jack’s cookies for 25 years until she retired in 2003.
In 1960 she married the late James Miller, which ended in divorce in 1980. From this union there were 3 children. She later married John Howard in June 1989 until her death. No children were born from this union.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed the beach, her soap operas, all types of flowers and especially her seek and find puzzle books. Alice loved to sit on her deck on sunny days and do her puzzle books and listen to the birds sing. But most of all she absolutely loved her some Burger King whoppers and Golden Corral buffet.
Alice was called to eternal rest on May 8, 2025. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Alice leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 36 years, John R Howard, Son Ricky J. Miller (Lisa Bouknight Miller) of Jefferson, SC; Son James Miller Jr (Stacy), daughter Catherine M Reid (Carl), brother Johnny Baker (Delois), sister Betty Baker, All of Charlotte, NC. She has 7 grandchildren, 9-great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild…. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
