On Tuesday, December 6, 2022, our beloved Almarie Lavern “Von” Caldwell, a loving wife, devoted mother, and woman of God went home to dwell with our Lord. Born September 4, 1974 in Gastonia, NC to Pamela and Ronnie Foxx, Almarie was the youngest of their four children. Her family rejoices that she accepted Christ, was baptized at the age of ten, and immediately began her spiritual journey allowing others to see Christ in her.
Almarie graduated from Garinger High School in 1992. Shortly after graduation, she met and married the love of her life, Thomas. To their union was blessed three amazing children. As a young military wife and mother, Almarie enrolled at Austin Peay State University, where she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She later earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cameron University in 2005. She went on to earn two Masters’ Degrees from the University of Phoenix, one in Health Care Administration/Education (2010) and the other in Business Administration (2018). Both were awarded with honors.
Von was a devoted army wife for over twenty-eight years. During her service, she and Thomas were stationed at twelve different duty stations in various areas of the country, where she intimately touched the lives of thousands of people from all walks of life. For the last seventeen years, Almarie worked consistently as an accomplished GS-Civilian within the Department of the Army and Homeland Security.
Almarie had the gift of bringing joy to the lives of others. She will be best remembered for her unconditional love, walk with Christ, genuine positivity, encouraging spirit, edifying wisdom, intellect, whit, unselfish generosity, counseling care, sincere concern for all, infectious smile, and laugh. Almarie made everyone feel unique, special, seen, and heard. She loved the Lord and all His wonderous creations. On numerous occasions strangers who she encountered felt as though they had entertained one of God’s ministering angels.
Her personality was unmatched. She had a natural curiosity and was an avid reader, writer, volunteer, music enthusiast, classic movie buff, traveler, and foodie. Von was gleefully loud and unapologetic about her ability to dominate the dance floor and perform karaoke to her favorite songs. To be in her presence was a blessing.
She is survived by her loving husband Thomas; daughters Shatondra and Ambria (both of Los Angeles, CA) and son Thomas, Jr. (Oklahoma City, OK); mother Pamela Foxx, father, Ronnie Foxx (Gastonia, NC); sisters Narisha Foxx, Chenae (Ken) Graham-Burke and Chelsey “Shay” Foxx; brothers Rondon (Julie) Foxx, Mitchell (Janene) Foxx, Monterius Holland, and Ronjay Foxx, and host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, sorors, and friends who will reflect on the love, care, and compassion she showed each of them. May her transition remind us of how precious life is and cause us all to grow closer to Christ.
