Andre Harper

February 13, 1982 — September 6, 2018

Andre "Big Dre" Preston Harper Sr., 36, of Charlotte, NC was called home to be with the LordThursday, September 6, 2018. He was born February 13, 1982 in Bitburg, Germany to Preston and the late Timi Kay Harper.

Andre attended Butler High School in Matthews, NC where he lettered in football and wrestling. Upon graduating in 2000, he attended NC Central University in Durham.  He later began working in construction and renovation; a career that would become his life's passion. Recognizing the humanitarian need, Dre selflessly traveled to New Orleans to help families and area businesses with reconstruction in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina.

Beneath that rugged, imposing exterior, Big Dre had a heart of gold. Dre was always quick to rush to the aid of others. He lived by a moral code: love honorand protect. His actions were in alignment with his beliefs; when anyone reached out for his help, advice, needed an ear to hear, a shoulder to cry on, or just needed a hug that only Dre could give,he was there. He often quoted his mom, “Anything you do, be intentional.”Andre was intentional in all he did and said, especially when he would say, “I love you all the time.” Not some of the time or part of the time but ALL the time.

Andre was proud to be a Harper. Histrue sense of purpose came through being the father of Jacia, Aleyah and Little Dre (LD). Andre instilled in them his morals of which they are a beautiful reflection. When they’re together, they stay by each other’s side. When apart, they call eachother every night; ending each call with, “I love you all the time.”

Although LD is an infant, he is already mastering the Dre “stare” and is developing a laugh that’sas infectious as his dad’s.  Andre’slegacy will truly live onthrough his children.

Left to cherish Big Dre’s memory are his father Preston Harper Jr. (Mycenia); the love of his life and fiancée, Kayla Gayeski; sister Carolyn Harper; brother Zachariah

“4 Flats” Harper; three amazing children: daughters Jacia Harper10 and Aleyah Harper 9; son Andre Harper Jr.3 months; niece Izabella Harper 6 and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
