Andrew H. “Andy” Thompson

January 12, 1961 – June 9, 2024

Andrew Thompson Jr. was called home in the early morning hours of June 9, 2024.  He was born January 12, 1961 to Andrew H. Thompson Sr. and Sarah T. Thompson in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Smart and quiet, Andy grew up in Charlotte, graduating from North Mecklenburg High School.  He completed a Bachelor’s Degree  at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, NC, and a Master’s Degree at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK.

He also grew up in First Baptist Church-West in Charlotte.  What he learned there, he applied when    volunteering in youth programs at other local churches.

Andy was always a hard worker.  Over the years he had several jobs in various industries, but spent the majority of his career in the trucking industry.

Although he worked long hours, he was responsive to any family emergency.  For example, when a tree fell on his Mother’s house in the middle of the night, Andy was there to make sure she was safe and secure.

Everyone who knew him will miss his smile, his charm and his willingness to help others.

A private graveside service will be held June 18, 2024 at Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens.  Alexander Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
