Anita C. Martin

November 28, 1963 — March 2, 2026

Charlotte

Anita Charline was born on November 28, 1963 in Charlotte, NC. She was raised by her Grandmother Virginia (Gin) Proctor who proceeded her in death along with her parents Charles Weathers and Martha Martin. She was the beloved baby sister of Harold Rice, Deborah Martin-Brown, Patricia Weathers, and Demetrice (Terry) Cornwell. She was a loving aunt to a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Charline was a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School and spent her youth and adulthood caring for the children of her family, friends, and neighbors. When she retired from child care she dedicated her time to her beloved Friendship Primitive Baptist Church family and the Biddlepoint Community, where she provided homecooked meals and support to the unhoused, sick, and shut in. Charline never allowed her disability to hinder her from enjoying a fulfilling life. Many affectionately referred to her as speedy and roadrunner, as she was spotted all over Charlotte in her electronic mobility device from sun up to sun down. Charline will be fondly remembered by all who loved her for her generosity, her excellent culinary skills, love of children, and devotion to her church, family, and friends, especially her lifelong best friend Marlon Jones.
