Annette Mcdowell Ardrey

Annette McDowell was born to loving and devoted parents—the late Willie Henry McDowell and Mattie Coles. She was raised by both her maternal and paternal grandparents, Lucinda and Thomas McDowell, who instilled moral, educational, community and church values.

Annette McDowell graduated from Second Ward High School and attended Johnson C. Smith University. She married Herman Ardrey and to this union five children were born. Two sons, Reginald L. Ardrey of Berkeley, CA, and Clifford T. Ardrey of Houston, TX. Three daughters, Sandra C. Ardrey of Charlotte, NC, Sheila G. Ardrey of Houston, TX, and Sharon W. Ardrey of Laurel, MD.

Annette McDowell Ardrey was employed in numerous capacities. She participated in several organizations which brought her much personal satisfaction. She was an active member of East Stonewall AME Zion Church for many years.

She leaves to mourn: her family, other relatives and devoted friends.
