Annie Geraldine Wells Clark of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on January 22, 2021. Born March 31, 1940, in Warsaw, NC, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Sumler V. Wells and Annie M.J. Wells. She graduated in 1958 from West Charlotte High School and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Johnson C. Smith University. She taught elementary school for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system for many years before retiring. She was also the Master of Music for numerous churches. She is survived by her husband Robert Clark; four daughters, Rita Gooding Hopkins (Kelvin Hopkins), Viveca Gooding, Raina Clark, and Torrie Clark; a sister, Stephine Wells; eight grandchildren, Nia Coples, Nneka Thomas (Marc Thomas), Rahsaan Coples, Deon’tay Clark (Climmecha Clark), Shanquella Lindsey, Joselyn Clark, Destinae Robinson, and Jairus Robinson; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She loved her family, cooking and entertaining her friends. Her favorite pastimes were shopping wearing her 6” inch stilettos and jumping in her car to go wherever the wind would blow. I guess you could say no grass grew under her feet. She lived life to the fullest on her own terms. Everyone knew her as Nana or “Mrs. Gerri” and she will truly be missed. *We are thankful for friends and family like you in this time of sorrow. Your cards, calls, flowers etc. are greatly appreciated.
