Avon D. Mitchell

Mrs. Avon Blackmon Mitchell affectionately called “Pee Wee” was the daughter of the late Mary Ruth and Gilbert Blackmon. Avon was born October 30, 1950 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She entered her heavenly home peacefully on October 19, 2025. Avon graduated from Plato Price High school. She worked for Carolina Medical Hospital as a CNA and later transferred to the dietary department. After leaving, she worked as a nanny for many years. She was deeply loved by her Children and parents. Avon was a faithful member of Chapell Memorial Baptist Church until her health declined. She faithfully served as a doorkeeper for the Lord, and also served on the Pastor’s Ministry.

Avon was preceded in death by her parents, sister Annette Lockett and brother Bobby Blackmon. Her beautiful memories will always be in the hearts of many. Her husband Willie Mitchell, son Carlos Mitchell, brother Leon Blackmon, sisters, Dorothy Peterson “Tony” and Betty Jean Blackmon, one grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends and best friend Peggy and husband Mack Vance of Charlotte, North Carolina.
