Barbara L. Grier

November 5, 1941 — February 16, 2026

Barbara Ann Lowery Grier, 84, of Maiden, North Carolina, transitioned peacefully to sleep in

Jesus her Savior on February 16, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born on November 5, 1941, in Mecklenburg County, Charlotte, NC, Barbara was the cherished

daughter of the late Daniel Lowery and Hattie B. Harris Lowery. A woman of deep conviction,

Barbara was a pillar of her beloved Ephesus Seventh-Day Adventist Church. To her, the church

was more than a place of worship; it was her extended family. She always met you with a smile,

and her wit was legendary. She held no judgment, only love. She lived to reflect the character of

Christ and wanted everyone she met to experience the same profound love of God.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Erskine E. Grier; her sisters, Gloria Terrell,

Cora Hill, Jennifer Bell, and Hattie B. King; and her grandson, Matthew Gibson.

Her legacy of unconditional love will be carried on by her brother, Daniel Lowery Jr., and her

four children: Regina (Edward) Lee, Yolanda Blocker Gibson, Barbara (J’Neal) French, and Raji

(Michael) Blocker. She is also survived by her special "adopted" children: Deana Andrus, Fallen

Heard, and Harvey Staplefoote.

She remains the heart of her grandchildren: Jacqueline (Josh) Grindstaff, Conrad (Amy)

McKnight, Victoria Lee, Edward Z. Lee, Jonathan (Kim) Gibson, Jarrett (Melanie) Gibson, Mark

(Danielle) Gibson, Kala (Chris) McSwain, Zoe French, and Zaria French. Her memory will also

be adored by a host of great-grandchildren: Nylah, Ethan, Alexandria, Aiden, Jayden, Jaxton,

Korbyn, Mia, Amelia, Jayce, Brielle, Chaslyn, Judah, Juniper, Mya, Austin, Riley, and Chloe, as

well as her grand-pup, Alice, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment,

in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be

raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed... then shall be brought to pass the saying that is

written, Death is swallowed up in victory." — 1 Corinthians 15:51-54
