Barbara Regina Washington, age 61, of
Charlotte, North Carolina was born July 9,
1961 to Naomi Flowe Wilson and Bobby
Ray Moore. She departed this life on August
20, 2022.
Barbara graduated from Harry P. Harding
High School. Due to her love for cooking,
she attended culinary school to perfect her God-given skills.
Using her skills, she was employed by Mercy Hospital and UNC-
Charlotte as a food service employee for many years.
Barbara loved her family and friends and believed in “Family
First.” She sacrificially raised her three younger siblings
following the death of their mother. She had the biggest heart,
always ready to lend a helping hand, loved sending inspirational
quotes to family and friends, as well as cooking delicious meals
especially during the holidays. She loved her grandchildren
dearly: Ms. Layla, who she affectionately called Layla Bug, and
Isaiah, affectionately known as Zay. Additionally, she was a
faithful fiance to Mr. Barry Cunningham whom she loved dearly.
Lastly, her friendships spanned over 30-40 years. If you had the
opportunity to know Barbara, you had a friend for life.
She leaves to cherish beautiful memories, one daughter,
Kimberly N. Washington; her fiance, Barry Cunningham; two
sisters: Melissa E. Lark-Forney (Leroy), of Charlotte, NC.,
N. Dena Wilson Hunt (Alton) of Morganton, NC.; three
grandchildren, Jaylen, Isaiah, and Layla; a special niece, Loren
Lark, also called Ms. Lady Ma'am, of Charlotte NC. and a host
of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
