Berdie Jo Blackwell

Ms. Berdie Jo Blackwell, 90, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away on
Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the Sunrise Assisted Living
Facility in Scottsdale Arizona. Her grandson Jock Blackwell had
moved Berdie to Scottsdale, Arizona in November of 2021 to be
closer to he and his family.
Berdie’s funeral will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, at
8:30 a.m. at Faith Christian Methodist Episcopal Church
preceded by a family and friend viewing at 8:00 a.m. Her burial
will be held at the Oaklawn Cemetery.
Berdie, was born in Jefferson, South Carolina, and moved to
Charlotte, N.C, with her large family after graduating from high
school. She had two daughters, Carol Blackwell Gooden and
Terrie Blackwell Joyner both have preceded her in death.
Berdie loved the lord! At Faith C.M.E. Church, she was an
Usher, a member of Faith’s Missionary Ministry, and was
named Mother of Faith C.M.E. Church. Prior to her passing, she
attended Grier Heights Presbyterian Church, in Charlotte, NC.
Prior to her death she leaves to mourn 4 sisters Fairy “Faye” Gant, Claretha

Blackwell, Mollie B. Massey, Veronica B. George, one brother, Obie D. Blackwell,
and host of nieces and nephews, a host of friends, one grandson,
Jocquese “Jock” Blackwell, grand daughter-in-law, Dr. Lesley
Williams-Blackwell, and three great-grandchildren: Cameron, Leyla, and Carter Blackwell.
