Beverly Ann Hill Able was born in New York City, New York on April 29, 1945 and transitioned to her everlasting heavenly home on August 13, 2015 at the Presbyterian Hospital, ICU, Charlotte, North Carolina. Known affectionately as "Bev" , she was the oldest of 2 children born to the late Clarence Fred and Johnnie Mae Gladden Hill. Bev attended Morgan Elementary School in Cherry on Baldwin Avenue and Billingsville Elementary School in Grier Heights, both in Charlotte, NC. She is a proud graduate of Second Ward High School and attended Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia where she majored in Biology. She attended Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte and majored in Human Services. She worked as a professional child development and child care instructor at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte. Bev was an outstanding student and member of the honor society throughout her educational career. In 1964, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Willie Able, better known as Pete. They became the proud parents of their cherished and long awaited for daughter, Brandy Collette and now the proud and devoted grandparents to Chloe' Elizabeth, Brandy's daughter. Pete and Brandy have provided never ceasing and beyond excellent care and support to Bev during her infirmary. Chloe' has provided unconditional love, warm kisses, beautiful artwork and sincere devotion to her grandmother, Momos, continuously. Bev had a gentle, kind and wonderful spirit. She was totally devoted to her family and friends. Bev loved cooking for family during gatherings and she often cooked meals for all of the young cousins at holiday times. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a large hardy laugh that brought tears to her eyes when she was in the company of loved ones. She loved to dance and listen to Motown sounds as well as gospel music. As the family matriarch, she always guided her family with a loving but steady hand. You knew when you had a little wiggle room with Bev but you also knew when she meant business and you had better get to "stepping". She was also very loving and forgiving and saw the positives in any situation. Bev was a faithful servant over the years to Saint Paul Baptist Church, Grier Heights Presbyterian Church, and Sardis Road Presbyterian Church. Bev leaves to cherish her memories and legacy a proud family: her husband, Willie Able; her daughter, Brandy Able Baldwin (Sean), her granddaughter, Chloe' Elizabeth Whitaker; her sister, Rosalyn Hill Salem (Mohamed); her niece, Brittani Penn (Chris);her nephews Torrol Holt (Tristan) and Deryl Alexander (Surlenza); and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
