Brenda Ashford Miller Cowans departed this life on December 16, 2020, at Presbyterian Hospital Main in Charlotte, NC. Born December 7, 1949, in Bessemer City, NC, she was the daughter of the late Frazier McNair and Mozelle Ashford. She attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, then went on to Central Piedmont Community College where she received her Welding Degree. Later on, she retired at Gas Fired Product of Charlotte, NC. She was well-known in her old community of Seversville as "Mom" for her yearly 4th of July cookouts, fish fries, and letting us children enjoy ourselves, playing spades and other card games. She had inspirational words for all, her doors were always open to anyone in need. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She is preceded in death by two daughters, Charlotte Miller and Rosalind Ashford; one great-grandson, Julian Holden; and one great-granddaughter, Adah Lyricaal Harvey. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of over 40 years, James W. Cowans; three daughters, Billie Jo Sellers (Tony), Tonia Holden, Teresa Easter; step-daughter, Tracy Neely; and son, Charlie Easter, all of Charlotte, NC. Godson, Robert Fulford (Vida) of Pageland, SC. Seven grandchildren, Carlos Easter, Crystal Miller, Dominique Holden, Gary Holden, Jr., Tatyana Littlejohn, Ciren Sellers, and Camren Sellers; one brother, Sandy Ashford; and one nephew, Steve Massey (Sheryl), all of Charlotte, NC. A host of great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
