Brice Mccain, Jr

God choose another angel on Monday April 4 th ,2022.

Brice McCain Jr, son of the late Brice McCain Sr, and Janie Gambel was born March 9 th ,1928 in Waxhaw, NC. Brice lovingly known as “Pops,” was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, friend, and colleague. Brice was loved by so many.

Brice accepted Christ at an early age and held membership at St. Paul Baptist Church for over 50 years where he could be found on the back right pew fellowshipping and praising the Lord.

In 1951 he begin working at City Chevrolet as a steam cleaner. A few months later he enlisted in the US Army and spent the next few years in Fort Eustis, VA during this time, he was married to Mazie Dell McCain who preceded him in death  After his discharge he came back to work at City, this time driving a 3-wheel motorcycle to pick up and deliver cars for the Service Department. In those days helmets were not required but he sported a cool pair of goggles as he dashed through the roads of Charlotte on his overgrown tricycle. In the 1980’s he and a co-worker became known as “Road ranger and Pron-tow “as they reported traffic conditions to WBT radio and rescued stranded motorist with empty gas tanks and dead batteries. Later, he would find his he true calling as he became the courtesy van driver. He said, “I liked meeting people, and this is where I meet all kinds of people.” He retired after 65 years of service. “Pops” enjoyed spending time on his front porch where he could be found with a warm smile, a big wave and words of wisdom and encouragement.

He was happily married to Gwendolyn I. McCain from June 16 th ,2006 were they loved and cared for one another until the time of his death.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by: 2 sons, 5 sisters, 4 bothers, 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 nephew.

He leaves to cherish his legacy his loving wife Gwendolyn I . McCain, 4 children Kimberly Jordan (James), Bertha Tillman (James) , Brice Sowell and Doug Sowell all of Charlotte , NC . 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 23 great-greatgrandchildren, 1 great great great grandchild. A special sister-in-law Carolyn Ingram of Charlotte NC and host of nieces, nephews and ,lifelong friends.

Brice will be sorely missed by all his family and friends.
