Carolyn McMullen was born May 24, 1952 in Shelby, North Carolina and she went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2023. Carolyn was the fifth child of Glenwood Hill, Sr. and Ora Lee Hill. She attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and graduated from West Charlotte High School in 1970. Carolyn retired from the Mecklenburg County Alcoholic Beverage Control Board where she worked as a cashier for 17 years. She accepted Christ into her life at East Stonewall A.M.E. Zion Church.

Carolyn was a very unique, caring, and loving person who touched the lives of many. She was outspoken and outgoing, with a vibrant personality. Carolyn was the “life of the party.” She loved her family and she went above and beyond to help others whenever she could.

Carolyn was proceeded in death by her father, Glennwood Hill, Sr. and her brothers, Glennwood Hill, Jr. and Woodrow Hill.

Carolyn will be deeply missed by family. Those left to celebrate her life and treasure her memories are her daughter, Yolanda McMullen-Thedford (Chris); granddaughters, Kennedy and Landyn Thedford all of Ellenwood, GA; mother, Ora Lee Hill; sisters, Marion Hill, Hazel Weldon, of Charlotte, NC and Sheryl Hill of Gastonia, NC; adopted son, Britian Foster (Suzanne); granddaughter, Kyra Foster, all of Port Republic, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
