Carolyn A. Singleton

February 22, 1946 — October 1, 2020

Carolyn Ann Singleton was born on February 22, 1946 to Mildred Robinson Bost and Jesse Bost Sr., in Brooklyn, NY. Carolyn was a part of a large family filled with many brothers and sisters. She left to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 1, 2020 with her daughter, Ulanda, by her side. Carolyn was very outgoing, kind-hearted, and fun to be around.

She attended Prospect Heights High School in Brooklyn, NY where she received a High School Diploma in July of 1964. One week after graduation, she sealed the deal of adulthood and married Otis “Sonny” Singleton. Although they did not remain life partners, they remained life-long friends. In the late 1960’s, Carolyn began her career with AT&T, and after almost 30 years, she finally retired.

Carolyn wore many hats. She was the mom of Vanessa and Ulanda, she was a Girls Scouts troop leader, she was on the Board of Trustees at Community Church of God in Plainfield, New Jersey and in 1995, she moved to Charlotte, NC where she held that same title at Seigle Avenue First Church of God. She was the youth director at both churches.

In Charlotte, she, her sisters, and her friends started their own sorority that they called the SSG's (Social Security Girls). They traveled together, played Pokeno , gossiped, but most importantly, they enjoyed life!

Everyone that knew Carolyn, knew that she had a strong love for pets and would do anything for her own pets, Miss Mugsy, Diamond, and Django. In addition to pets, Carolyn loved to travel and be around family. Her favorite place to vacation was Freeport, Bahamas however, she felt her best when she was around family! In fact, "family" was one of her last words!

Carolyn loved to plan trips, parties, weddings, funerals, and anything else that triggered her creativity. In the 1980’s, she started event planning and decorating and named her business, Carol's Creations.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Robinson Bost, her father, Jesse Bost Sr., her three brothers, Jesse Bost Jr., James Bost, and Gregory Bost, three sisters, Barbara Jones, Phyllis Bost Lewis, Eleanor Bost Everett, and her oldest daughter, Vanessa Singleton.

Carolyn leaves to mourn their loss, her baby girl, Ulanda Johnson (Keith) of Columbia, SC; four sisters, Marizetta Gresham, Pamela Bost-Mincey (Tony), Delores Bost, and JoAnn Stokely, all of Charlotte, NC; Five grandkids, Tyshawne Singleton (Adrienne) of Wilmington, NC, Chardell Singleton of Baltimore, MD, Torian Singleton of Baltimore, MD, Shari Cooper of Atlanta, GA, and Hadarii Cooper of Baltimore, MD; 11 great grands, Aniyah, Khai'lee, Torian Jr., Tietiyana, Ta'Quory, Kobe, Saniyah, ZauRia, J'Lynn, Zion, Zoei, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
