“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day.” II Timothy 4:6-8. Mrs. Catherine Williams, affectionately called “Mama Cat” or “Miss Cat”, left this earthly life peacefully at her home surrounded by family and transitioning to her heavenly home on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 12:00 noon.She was born March 11, 1935 in Charlotte, NC, into the (Grier/ Blake/Mitchell family) to the late John Traymon and Emma Catherine Grier. EDUCATION: Attended Plato Price High School MARRIAGE: Robert H. Williams, for 60 years until he departed this life in 2017. HER WORK: Charlotte Linen Co., Pharr Yarn Mill in Gastonia, NC,Hudson Hosiery Mills and Walls Memorial AME Zion Church Day Care as Nutritionist. Her Faith Journey A Woman of Worth Mrs. Catherine Williams was a devout Christian, baptized as a infant in the family church at Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church, Charlotte,NC. Thus began her life’s journey of faith. After the marriage of Mr.Robert H. Williams on September 8, 1957, she joined the South Tryon Presbyterian Church under Rev. E.E. Newberry in 1957, then the Rev. Dr. A. Rudolph Hendricks, the Bishop James Logan at Bread of Life Christian Ministry, later to be ministered by Rev. Alice Kelly, Rev.Cynthia McCullough and Rev. Urla Eversley. South End Presbyterian Church- Rev. Dr. James Thomas, finally at Legacy Christian Ministries under Rev. Dr. Chip Hall. Mrs. Williams was very active in the church. She served as Deacon,Elder, Chancel Choir member, Christian Education Ministry, Pastor’s Aide, Beautification Club, Presbyterian Women ( Circle #3 @ South Tryon, Circle of Lydia at Bread of Life and South End, and Women of Worth at Legacy Ministries Church). Mrs. Williams was Presbyterian Woman Honorary Lifetime Membership Recipient at Bread of Life Church.
