Charles Bernet Kirby

Mr. Charles Bernet Kirby, 74, son of the late Clyde and Bertha
Kirby, was born on April 18, 1949, in Wadesboro, NC. He
departed this life on December 19, 2023.
Charles grew up in a very loving home with his parents and four
sisters. The family moved to Charlotte, NC in 1956. He
attended and graduated from West Charlotte Senior High
School in 1967.
His favorite pastimes were cooking, fishing, and maintaining a
pristine landscape. You would not find one weed or leaf. He
believed that cleanliness is next to Godliness. Football and
baseball were his favorite sports cheering for the Greenbay
Packers and the New York Yankees. Traveling with family no
matter where filled his heart with joy. He had unwavering
compassion and a protective nature.
Charles was a dedicated and faithful member of East Stone Wall
AME Zion Church where he never missed a Sunday. He was an
outstanding Missionary, and Steward Board member. He was
also part of the Lay-Council. He was sought out for his wisdom
and unwavering spirit. He enjoyed singing and was part of the
men’s choir. He provided an abundant amount of counseling
and care to everyone that crossed his path.
Charles worked for Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center and
retired after 48 years of dedicated service. Additionally, he
worked for Stanley Black and Decker Distribution for 5 years.

Mr. Charles Bernet Kirby leaves to cherish wonderful memories:
his wife Bessie Kirby, his children, Charles Kirby Jr. (Sherrye), of
Greensboro, NC, Latonya Kirby, Adolphus Trapp (Latrina), of
Charlotte, NC and Reginald Trapp whom preceded him in
death; his sisters, Annie Bolden, Zerelda Black(Eric), Iris Kirby,
all of Charlotte, NC, and Krista Jeter(James), Rockhill, SC. 8
grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins,
nieces, nephews, and friends.
