For Live Stream, click here: BoxCast Charlie Evans, 75, was the oldest son of the late Roosevelt Evans, Sr., and Mary E. Blakeney. He passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020, at his home. He was married to Pecolia W. Evans for 55 years. To this union three daughters and one son were born. In addition to his parents, two daughters—Walisa and Jeanette Evans, three brothers—James and John Dewberry and David Evans, and one sister—Virginia E. Lewis, preceded him in death. Charlie was known throughout North and South Carolina due to singing with the Evans Brothers Gospel Group. Fond memories also developed in the Charlotte area, where he became known as "the Produce Man" while running a mobile stand in the Druid Hills Community with his brother David. In addition to his wife Pecolia, son Rev. Tommy Evans, and daughter Susan Evans, Charlie is remembered by his only granddaughter La'Kera Evans and her brother Kaz Shannon, for whom he has been a grandfather figure since he was 5 months old. Two brothers: Eddie (Ruby) Roosevelt, Jr. (Carolyn); five sisters-in-law: Saundra Evans, Helen Dewberry, Katherine Steele, Frances McCoy, Mary Burch; two aunts: Listeria (Wilbert) Lewis, Mahalia Morrow; one great-aunt Virginia McLaurin; two uncles: Roy Gibson and Raymond Gibson; a special God daughter (who adopted him): Sherry Malone; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
