Christopher Maurice Hames, age 59, of Charlotte, NC passed away on April 21, 2021.

Chris was born January 18, 1962, to Celestine Eloise Gallagher Hames and Marion Hames. He attended Berean Junior Academy in Charlotte, NC, and he is a graduate of Georgia Cumberland Academy in Calhoun, Georgia. He furthered his education at Southern Missionary College in Graysville, Tennessee. In addition, he attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and studied Computer Science.

Chris was a loving son, uncle, brother and friend. Chris spent years dedicating his life to helping move families across the country for Duke Moving Company. He also loved culinary work and was an avid cook for local Charlotte restaurants, including The Melting Pot and Fox & Hound.

He enjoyed life and having good times with friends and family. He had a great love for music and enjoyed displaying his musical talents at karaoke bars. During his high school career, he was nominated to first chair while playing the clarinet. Chris was a God-fearing man who loved his family and his friends. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for those in need.

He is survived by his siblings Janice Osborne, Sylvia Denise Sumpter, Lemuel Eugene Hames, Corrine Powell, Vincent Georges, Eugene Georges, and Monique Obeze.

Chris is joining his siblings Marion Hanes Jr., Timothy Hanes, Fredrick Hanes, Venice Hanes, and Linda Hanes.

He is survived by his youngest brother, Lemuel Hames, and his wife Tammy Hames and their children Bryanna Hames (niece) and Jordan Barnett (nephew). Chris’ sister, Dee Sumpter, and her children Walter Hawk III (nephew), Wesley Hawk (nephew) and his children Shawn Hawk & Damian Hawk, Warren Hawk (nephew) and his child Justice Hawk, and Shawna Hawk (predeceased-niece). His nephews Christopher Hanes and Fredrick Hanes Jr. children of brother Fredrick Hanes (predeceased).

He is also survived by the children of brother Marion Hanes Jr. (predeceased): Patrick Hanes (nephew) and his wife Stephanie and their children - Camille, Brandon, Jacob, Alina, and Malachi; Shelia Hanes (niece) and her children Kristina and Richie;

Brandon Hanes (nephew) and his wife Sharee and their children - Kyndal, Madline, Bella; Jennifer Hanes (niece) and her child Brownyn.

His sister Janice Osborne and her children, Joseph Osborne (nephew), Alisa Osborne (nephew), and Shamika Osborne (niece). His sister Monique Obeze and her children, Valentina Obeze (niece), Chyloe Obeze (niece), and Tiyanna Obeze (niece).

Additionally, his sister, Corrine Powell, and her children Shaniqua Powell (niece) and Ricky Powell (predeceased - nephew). His brother, Eugene Georges, and his children Katerce Georges (niece), Victoria Georges (niece), Maurice Georges (nephew), Isaiah Georges (nephew) and Gene Georges (nephew).

His Venice Hanes (predeceased) and his children, Terry Hanes (nephew), Kimberly Hanes (niece), Kiara Hanes (niece), and Venicia Hames (niece). And brother Vincent Georges and his children Domonique Georges (niece), Vincent Georges (nephew), and Imani Georges(niece).

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Memorial services for Christopher Maurice Hames are scheduled for 3:00pm-4:00pm  on Saturday, May 1st, 2021, at Alexander Funeral Home. The address is 1424 Statesville Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28206. The eulogy will be done by his younger brother, Lem Hames. The family has requested that this is a private and closed celebration of life.
