In Loving Memory

Christy Denise Long was born in Paterson, New Jersey, on March 30, 1960. She was the second daughter and

third child born to the late Dennis and Ernestine Long. A longtime resident of Charlotte, North Carolina,

Christy was called to rest at CMC Medical Center on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

A proud graduate of Eastside High School in Paterson, Christy was a "Ghost" cheerleader from her sophomore

year until graduation. She held deep roots in the Charlotte community and was loved by many. Often seen as the

life of the party, she enjoyed time with her friends and passionately loved her family. She was the third of five

children, the middle child.

Though she did not have children of her own, Christy embraced her role as "Auntie" with fierce devotion and

showed her care through constant action. She was blessed with the honor of naming her first niece and second-

born nephew. No stranger to lifelong devotion, she went to the depth of getting a tattoo to commemorate the

birth of her second niece and third nephew.

Christy was incredibly loyal and dedicated to service, a trait that defined every aspect of her life. For 27 years,

until her passing, she served as a Resident Advisor at The Salvation Army, where she helped hundreds of

individuals find their footing. While many know Christy in a different way, the true depth of her impact is best

measured by the living legacy she leaves behind. She was far more than a resource; she was a steadfast mentor

who walked alongside people in their darkest hours, teaching them not just how to survive, but how to thrive.

The dividends of her service are found in the countless lives reclaimed by those she guided. She was a

trailblazer, and the torch she lit will carry light to others in need for generations to come.

Christy was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Ernestine Long; her younger sister, Cassandra "Fefe"

Long; and her oldest brother, Curtis Long.

Her life and memories will be cherished by her sisters, Starlet Cooper (Aaron Sr.) of Colorado Springs, CO, and

Ting Long-Jones (Ray) of Gastonia, NC ; her nieces, Nyesha Long and Quadedria Jones; and her nephews,

Aaron Cooper Jr., Tyreik Long, and Rahlique Jones. She is also survived by her aunt, Josephine Foman, as well

as a host of cousins and many extremely supportive friends.

The family thanks you all for your love and support during this difficult time.
