Clara Elizabeth Talbert

Clara Elizabeth Talbert 81, of Charlotte NC entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center- Matthews, NC. She was born September 13, 1933 in Washington, NC. Clara was educated in the Beaufort County School System, graduating from Washington High School. At a very early age she was baptized at Beebe Memorial AME Church in Washington, NC. After graduating high school, Clara married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Herbert Fair II and moved to Brooklyn, NY. While raising her children Clara worked as a Claims Processor for Aetna Insurance Company in New York for 30 years before retiring. She later married Randolph Talbert and moved to Charlotte, NC where she was employed as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant for Charlotte Rehabilitation Hospital. Clara loved her work at the hospital and had to force herself to retire in 2000. After moving to Charlotte, Clara became an affiliate member of Central Church of God in Christ, where she attended church regularly until her health declined. Clara’s house was always known to be the “gathering place” both in New York and Charlotte. Family was one of the most important things to Clara and she truly enjoyed spending time with them. Her welcoming spirit made everyone feel at home and comfortable. It was always Clara’s greatest desire to make sure that everyone was having a good time and had enough to eat. Being the oldest child, she was also known to be “the bossy” one. Remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt, Clara is survived by her husband, Randolph Talbert of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Patricia Lloyd (Otis) son, Raymond Fair III (Donna) of Charlotte, NC; sister, Georgia Mae Little, Charlotte, NC; brother, Levon McCullough Kenlaw (Mary), Elizabeth City, NC; sister-in-laws, Mary Kenlaw, Washington, NC, Anita Jones (Otto) of Charlotte, NC. Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren; Shamar Jenkins of Baltimore, MD and Jaray Fair of Charlotte, NC, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham “Abe” and Hattie Bell Gorham Kenlaw, 2 brothers, Alfred “Shorty” Kenlaw, Joseph “Polly” Kenlaw and 1 sister, Earlene Kenlaw.
