Cora Lee Council Burchette was born April 10, 1929, in White Oak, NC, to the late John Timothy Council and Beulah Dunham. She completed her task on this earth and received her crown on December 7, 2020. Cora was raised by John and Cora Dunham. She had nine siblings: Willie John Council (deceased), Annie Mae Melvin, Albert Council (Mary), Alene Worley, Charles Henry Council (deceased), Mary Worley (deceased), Thurman Council (deceased), and Helen White. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a faithful member of Russell Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Durham, NC, where she served with several ministries, including the Missionary Society, the Gospel Chorus, the Lay Council, the Welchel's Helping Hand, and the Stewardess Board. She was a former member of the Aimee Jubilee Singers of Durham, NC. Cora worked at the Dental School at UNC-Chapel Hill, and was a home healthcare aide with the Home Health Agency of Chapel Hill, where she was able to provide care to many, young and old, in the Chapel Hill area. Cora met and married the love of her life, Joseph Winfred Burchette (deceased) in 1952. They had six children, Voncile A. Farrington, Joseph Herman Burchette (deceased), Yvonne M. Williams, Wesley Allen Burchette (deceased), Pamela S. Burchette, and Sunanda B. Dillon. The many loved ones she leaves to celebrate her life include nine grandchildren: Janice Obie, Joseph H. Burchette, Jr. (Christy), Kenyetta Farrington, Sharie Walker (Robert), Brandy Hopkins, Ryan Burchette, Brianna Dillon, Nia Elbeck, and Maya Elbeck; fourteen great-grandchildren: Jenell Obie, Jecenta Obie, Wesley Burchette, Haley Burchette, Aliyah Walker, Kailah Farrington, Jamil Walker, Najah Walker, Ahmad Walker, Kameron Walker, Nadiyah Walker, Aniyah Burchette, Rylynn Burchette, and Jamir Bozsom; three great-great-grandchildren: Jammond Obie, Jamya Obie, and Jordan Merritt; a special niece, Ruthie Browning-Wynn (Roy); two goddaughters, Marilyn Chaplin and Loretta Lipsey; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
