Corine Ollie Bell Huey

Corine Thompson Huey, 71, of Charlotte, NC passed away Friday, September 22, 2017. She was born on February 27, 1946 to the late Calvin Thompson and Mary Bauknight Thompson in Charlotte.   She was a 1964 graduate of J. H. Gunn High School. Corine worked for White and Belk Printing Companies during her lifetime. She was a lifelong member of Torrence Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, where she was a member of the choir and served in almost all of its auxiliaries.   Corine was born and raised in Torrence Grove A.M.E. Zion Church where her grandparents Rev. Grant Thompson, grandmother Rosa and her parents are buried. She is a lifelong member of the church and the North Charlotte District of the A.M.E. Zion District where she served on the district choir. Also listed as her service Missionary class leader, Superintendent and teacher of the Sunday School, member of the Steward, Corine almost always wore a glowing smile, and had a quite spirit. No matter what the situation or the hardship, when asked "how she was doing," she would always she was "fine." Her excitement came from singing, cooking and serving others. She loved cooking cakes, making other desserts and large dishes of macaroni and cheese, She had no children of her own, therefore she helped co-parent her sisters and brother's children with great pleasure and commitment. Over the years she developed a deep attachment of her great niece Acnaledge, whom Corine had helped raise since she was a baby. She has turned Acnaledge into a great cook, like herself.   She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers (Freddie, Tim, Ralph, Joe, and Arthur) and sisters (Rosa T. Stover and Mildred T. Bowser). Left to cherish her memory is her nephews, Marty and Marcus, with whom she lived. She also leaves behind her brothers, Melvin (Queen), Gene (Debra), and Ronald Thompson, a special grand niece Acnaledge Thompson a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
