Curtis Petty

Curtis Petty passed away on January 9, 2022, at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his father, Sammie Petty, his mother Rosa Mae Brewton Petty, and maternal grandparents Roosevelt and Geneva Brewton.

Curtis was born August 15, 1950 in Spartanburg, SC and was raised in Charlotte, NC. He loved to draw, dance, and sing. He was a huge Carolina Panthers football fan and liked to dabble in the kitchen. He graduated high school in 1968 from Second Ward High School in Charlotte, NC.

Curtis attended United House of Prayer for All People at young age and continued to attend service at the Mother House of Prayer in Charlotte as often as he could.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 8 years, Patricia Grimes Petty and her children and grandchildren. His children from previous marriages, one son, Eric J. Ravenell (Jennifer) of Dallas, TX, two daughters, Karyn Petty Galloway and Tumekia Clawson-Phillips (Mark) both of Charlotte, NC; 5 grandchildren, Megan Daner (Joseph) of Dallas, TX, La’Quandra Littlejohn (Gary), London Galloway both of Charlotte, NC, Jada Elleby of Durham, NC, an Michael Phillips of Winston-Salem, NC; three great grandchildren, Kamarion Littlejohn and Brooklyn Littlejohn both of Charlotte, NC, Hendrix Daner of Dallas, TX; one sister Latasha Reid of Hampton, VA; a niece and nephew Jaquan and Harmony Reid; two aunts Vineta Roseburgh and St. Catherine Styles both of Spartanburg, SC; two uncles, Calvin Brewton (Bertha) of Charlotte, NC, and recently deceased John Henry Brewton of Spartanburg, SC; and  a host of cousins.
