Damon Christopher Foster was born June 27, 1970 to Luria Mae Foster and the late James Christopher Foster. Damon completed his earthly journey on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center while surrounded by the family he deeply loved.
Damon attended West Mecklenburg High School where he graduated in 1988. In 1989, he enlisted in the United States Airforce. On January 25, 1992 he was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Tarla D. Bynum. A few years later, this union became the proud parents to "The Twins" Ti'Onna and Darrion. He separated from the military after several years of service. He later worked with Interstate Assurance Company. For over 25 years he was employed by The United States Postal Service and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office where he continued to do reserve services.
Damon was preceded in death by his father, James Christopher Foster; one sister, Lashelle Foster; grandmother, Flora Mae McCallum; two aunts Dorothy Ann Brown and Mary Lee Belin; and one uncle, Michael McCallum.
Damon’s sudden and unexpected transition created a hole in the hearts of many. Beautiful and fond memories will forever be cherished by his wife of 29 years, Tarla D. Foster of the home; one daughter, Ti'Onna Foster of Monroe, NC; one son, Darrion Foster of Charlotte, NC; mother, Luria Mae Foster of Charlotte, NC; one niece, Latoya Foster of Charlotte, NC,; one nephew, Jamal Gee ”J-Rock” of Burlington, NC; two goddaughters, Sierra Patterson of Chapel Hill, NC and Kaydence Brooks-Ivory “Tootie Wootie” of Durham,NC; one bonus daughter, Ashley Summerville of Durham; two special cousins he loved like brothers, Greg McCallum and Keith McCallum of Charlotte, NC; one aunt, Mary Pittman of Washington, DC; one uncle, Henry McCallum of Maryland; mother-in-law, Jean Bynum of Dudley, NC; two sister-in-laws Wanda Reid (Dalvin) of LaGrange, NC; Beajeanna Washington (Corey) of Goldsboro, NC; one brother-in-law Ernest McCullen (Carrie) of Dudley, NC; three nieces Raehanna Evans of Charlotte, NC; Mierra Reid of Goldsboro, NC; and Jeanice McCullen of Goldsboro, NC; three nephews Chevis Singleton of Goldsboro, NC; Emmanuel McCullen of Goldsboro, NC and Yeremiyah McCullen of Goldsboro, NC; two special life long friends, Ira Boulware of Charlotte, NC and Chad Calloway (Monica) of LaGrange, NC; and his extended nieces and nephews who he adored.
Damon affectionately known as D’mo and Uncle D was loved by all who knew him. He took special joy in spending time with his family. Damon always enjoyed a good laugh with whomever he came in contact with. He had the most beautiful smile that would light up your soul. He will be sorely missed daily by his immediate and extended family as well as his close friends.
