David Earl Phillips

David Earl Phillips (Gates) was born on September 16, 1951 in Geneva, Alabama, to Dorothy and Hank Phillips. He moved to  Camden, New Jersey  in 1955. David was educated in the Camden City Public School System. During the early part of his employment David worked odd jobs until 1996. Later he was employed by RPM Inc. as a Floor Lead for over 20 years and retired in 2019. He was truly an asset to his employer and everyone loved him dearly.
After his retirement David relocated to Gastonia, North Carolina in 2020 until the Lord called him home on January 30, 2023.

David Earl Phillips better known as (Gates) enjoyed his life to the fullest. He enjoyed attending family get togethers, fishing, drag racing, playing cards and watching other sports, especially the Superbowl.

He was known for being a hardworking man, always dressed to impressed and we must not forget being a ladies man always using that
contagious smile.

"Gates" was loved by many and will be sadly missed by all.

David was preceded in death by his father Hank, his mother Dorothy, his sisters Janice, Theresa and Masha'.

He leaves behind his former wife Johnnie Ruth; four children Shenell Haley(Derrick), David Earl Phillips Jr., Sherell Jackson(Michael) and Deja Wilson; 12 grandchildren,  5 great grandchildren; siblings Rodney Phillips(Arnetta); four sisters Diane Phillips(Paul), Patty White(Donald), Alice Phillips and Marsha Phillips; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
