A Purpose for Everything
A Time to Be Born …
On June 8, 1995, Devin Lee Tipsword Gallion was born in Asheville, North Carolina near the French
Broad River. His parents are Lee R. Gallion and Dina M. Tipsword. Even as a baby, Devin formed a close
bond with his father when he rode on dad’s truck for brief occasions.
A Time to Live …
Devin was a happy, loving, and funny child who attended various schools in the state of Texas. He loved
to watch football, and finally got to attend his first professional football game with his father and
stepmother in December 2019 when the Carolina Panthers played the New Orleans Saints. When he was
14, he joined his father, a long-haul truck driver and owner of GAL-TRANS, LLC. and traveled the
highways of the United States for three and a half years. Since GAL-TRANS, LLC. was based in Mississippi,
his father obtained permission from the state of Mississippi to homeschool him on the truck.
Devin was a strong, compassionate young man who had a funny and contagious laugh. He was a
mountain of a man who stood tall and proud. Always a hard worker, he was extremely dedicated to all
his duties. He wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a United States Marine. Devin
successfully held several positions as a security officer in Charlotte. He followed his sister into one of the
world’s largest retail operations, Walmart Corporation, also in Charlotte. Devin took courses at Central
Piedmont Community College (CPCC) and earned his forklift certification at OMITT Trade School. Like
many young men, he struggled to find happiness, get married and have children, knowing that would
have made his father very happy.
A Time to Die …
Unfortunately, his hopes and dreams for life were cut short at the age of 27. He leaves behind his father
Lee R. and stepmother Domna V. Gallion. He also leaves behind his mother Dina M. Tipsword of
Palestine, TX and his grandmother, Judy Spradlin, also of Palestine, TX. He is survived by his sister,
Denita L. Gallion and brother-in-law, Julian Rance of Monroe, NC, brother Macxavior L. Gallion, and
stepbrother N. Jason Colepaugh. He is also survived by his aunt Helen Bolden of Greenwood, MS, aunt
Vera (Penny) and Lawrence Thompson of Starke, FL and Tami Davis of Wichita Falls, TX, uncle Michael
and Lora Gallion of Greenwood, MS, great aunt Elmira and Willie B. Henry, Sr. of Memphis, TN, and
other relatives in Arizona, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, and the island of Cyprus in the
Mediterranean Sea.
