Diane Phillips Douglas, 63, was born in Pageland, SC, to Clinton Phillips, Sr. and Verla Phillips. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 23, 2017.
Diane grew up in a Marshville, NC. She was a bright student passionate about education and often recognized for her diligent and earnest study. She graduated from Parkwood High School in Waxhaw, NC, and soon after enrolled in Johnson C. Smith University where she continued her excellent scholarship until graduation. A Golden Bull recently receiving a Bachelor’s degree, she was eager to test her skills as a teacher. She secured her first professional position with Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System in 1975 where she maintained employment until retiring as an assistant principal in 2005.
In additional to her devotion to Charlotte’s students, her greatest commitment was to faith and her family. Diane accepted salvation in 1975. She was a loyal member of God’s Glory Deliverance Ministry. Anyone who knew Diane, knew of her love for the Lord. They were also aware of the strong love she had for her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Diane leaves to cherish her memory; her son, Brett Douglas of Charlotte, and daughter, Dawn D. Dudley (William) of Durham; grandchildren, Brianna Butler-Douglas, Trinity Dudley, and William Dudley, III; siblings Clinton Phillips, Jr. (Jessie) of Monroe, Emma Sinclair of Polkton, and Sarah Carter of Atlanta; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her eldest son Major Sean Cedric Douglas, whom she loved dearly.
