Donald Vernard Porter

Donald Vernard Porter of Charlotte, NC departed this life on Friday, May 31, 2013. Quiet hour will be Wednesday, June 5th at 12:00 noon at Parkwood C.M.E. Church, 802 Tom Hunter Road, Charlotte, NC 28213, with a homegoing service to follow at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at Sharon Memorial Park, 5400 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of thirty-six years, Irene Windley Porter; two daughters, Degwanda and Utocqua; three grandchildren, Aniah, Aaden and Caleigh; three sisters, Viveca P. Jackson, Karen P. Howard (William), and W. Regina Porter; two brothers, Karl S. Porter and Tard M. Porter (Josephine) and mother-in-law, Ida Green. He is preceded in death by his parents Willie and Edith Porter; his brother Al C. Porter; and mother-in-law, Annie B. Days. Special thanks to his previous employers, Mr. and Mrs. Edison Glenn Foard and Mr. and Mrs. Penn Cassels for welcoming him with open arms and making him feel like family.
