Dorothy Doores Waddy

Dorothy Doores Waddy was born on March 1, 1939 in Warrenton, VA. She moved to Charlotte, NC in October of 1968. She accepted Christ at the age of 10 and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Warrenton, VA. She later joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in November of 1968 and immediately joined Sunday School, which she taught for many years as a Sunday School Teacher, Department Superintendent and Superintendent. In 1998 Dorothy felt a calling to go back and do more work in the area where she lived. Her belief was "to whom much is given, much is required." She formed a youth group and had it for several years. Also seeing the need, she began to do more community work on the Corridor. She helped to organize the West Boulevard Neighborhood Coalition among other things. She was preceded in death by one son, Stephen. She leaves to cherish her memories to two sons, Donald and Herman, one daughter-in-law, Kim, one granddaughter, Nikkena and two great-grandsons, Joey and Julian. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 12noon at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church-3400 Beatties Ford Rd., Charlotte, NC 28216. Visitation will be from 11-12.
