Dorothy R. Miller

September 7, 1929 — June 10, 2025

Dorothy Lee Robbins Miller was born on Saturday, September 7, 1929. She transitioned from her earthly vessel on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. surrounded by loved ones as she took her final breath.

Dorothy was educated in the First and Second Ward School System. She was employed by Lions Services, which is a company that employs those deemed as being legally blind or visually impaired. During her tenure with Lions Services she specialized in making custom made products for the Army and Navy.

Dorothy was a member of Ephesus Church of Christ for 51 years. She attended church faithfully until her health declined. Even though she couldn't be there physically, she continued to support the ministry in any way that she could.

Dorothy and her family were well known in the neighborhood. She was everyone's mother. There wasn’t a day that went by that her porch was not filled with children in the neighborhood, waiting to visit her younger children and to play with her grandchildren. She welcomed and showed love to everyone but she didn’t hesitate to provide discipline and guidance when needed. When it came to doing hair, she knew how to work a straightening comb. You might have a burn or two behind your ear or on your neck if you didn’t sit still, but you knew your hair would be cute much longer than it would have if someone else did it. She made the best homemade icees and she was a wonderful cook. If you can name it, she could make it. Those cooking skills have been passed down to most of her children and grandchildren. Most importantly, she instilled good, strong morals and taught her family the importance of having a relationship with God. She was a true servant God and gave so much to others. Regardless to who you are, if you every came into contact with her, she left a positive and everlasting impact on your life.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Miller, II; her parents, Sarah Golden Robbins and Thomas Bennie Robbins, Sr.; one daughter, Dorothy Anna Wylie, three brothers; James Eugene Robbins, Thomas Bennie Robbins Jr. and William Johnson, two sisters; Annie Mae Robbins Walker and Sarah Ida Robbins Monroe.

Dorothy is survived by 5 sons: Richard (Sylvia) Robbins, Harold Bernard Miller, Bobby Miller, Harry (Teresa) Miller, III, all of Charlotte, N.C. and Rodney (Geraldine) Miller of Marshville, N.C., 7 daughters: Charlene (Henry) Harris of Stone Mountain, GA, Gloria Wylie, Harriett Clyburn, Veronica McKoy (James Davenport), Wybeatrice Wylie, Doris Miller and Vanessa Miller, all of Charlotte, N.C.; 24 Grandchildren, 64 Great Grandchildren, 30 Great Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
