Earnest Manghan, Jr., was born January 11, 1936, in Griffin, GA. He was the oldest of five children born to the union of the late Earnest Manghan, Sr., and Odessa Morris. He departed this life on April 21, 2021, in Charlotte, NC.
Earnest attended Fifth Avenue High School. He later joined the Reserve and US Army and was honorably discharged. Earnest was employed at the Pittsburgh Port Authority as a bus driver and retired after 20 years of service. He married his childhood sweetheart, Jean Roberts, in 1960 and they were blessed in marriage together for sixty years. From this union, Doreen Manghan and Darlene Manghan were born.
Earnest, nicknamed “Spoon”, enjoyed playing basketball at the Ammon Recreation Center. Later in life he enjoyed cooking on the grill when the weather permitted. He also enjoyed going on cruises with family and friends. His calm spirit and demeanor will be greatly missed.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Earnest, Sr., and Odessa Morris Manghan, and three brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of sixty years, Jean Manghan of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Doreen Manghan of Bristow, VA, and Darlene Manghan of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Candice Wright and Ciera Wright, both of Bristow, VA; two sisters, Lillian Johnson and Marie Williams, both of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loved ones, relatives and friends.
