Mrs. Edna Cooper Jones, daughter of the late Lillie and Henry Cooper, Sr. was born in Kershaw County, South Carolina on April 19, 1927. She departed this life for eternal rest on January 29, 2022.
Mrs. Jones attended Plato Price School and worked until retirement at Dobbs House Catering Service. She began attending Moore’s Sanctuary as a small child with her father Mr. Henry Cooper, Sr., her mother Mrs. Lillie Mack Cooper and her siblings. She remained a devoted, faithful and loyal member of Moore’s Sanctuary A.M.E. Zion Church, praising and giving honor to God for all that He had done in her life.
She served the church through several ministries such as the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society, Class Leader, Senior Ministry, Historical Society and member of the Combined and Senior Choirs. She was a missionary in the true sense of the word by her willingness and passion to serve and lend a helping hand to others. This willingness and passion to serve others has been passed down from her to generations that have followed.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie and Henry Cooper, Sr.; brothers, Willie Cooper, Henry Cooper, Jr. and Jesse Cooper; sisters, Dorothy McDonald, Bessie Pruitt and sister-in-law, Freddie Cooper.
Mrs. Jones leaves to cherish her loving memories: daughter, Gladys Thompson; son, Thomas Larry Jones (Rosanna); sister, Edith Cotton (Lynn); grandchildren Alicia Thompson, Derick Jones (Vashonda), Regeile Jones (Kesha) and Damien Thompson (Jennifer); 13 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Wallace Pruitt; sister-in-law, Evelyn Gloria Cooper and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
