Edward Jerome Huntley, affectionately known as Jerry, was born on May 18, 1950, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Charles Edward Huntley and Arzella Parks Huntley. He departed this earthly life on December 21, 2020. He graduated from West Charlotte High School in 1968. He furthered his studies at Central Piedmont Community College, where he earned a degree in Bookkeeping and Accounting. His career was with JP Stevens Company, Automatic Data Processing Payroll Services, Marriott Inc., and Burlington Coat Factory before retiring in 2010. He was a longtime, faithful, and dedicated member of Saint Paul Baptist Church. As a child, he helped his grandfather, Ernest Huntley, and Godparents, Pop Harris and Mother Florence, count the money in the finance room on Sunday mornings. As an adult, he served as an usher. Jerry was a passionate sports fan—he especially loved basketball and football. Through the years, he rooted for his mother's favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and ultimately, the Carolina Panthers. He was also an avid music fan. Jerry was known by many as a connoisseur of cool. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Michael Huntley, and sisters Karen Huntley Ballard and Shawn Phillips. Jerry leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife of 37 years, Iris Huntley of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Victoria Barksdale (Willie), Deborah Allen, Janet Hamilton (William), and Barbara Oden, all of Charlotte, NC; brother Dwayne Ivey of Charlotte, NC; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, special relatives, and friends in North Carolina, Georgia, and Ohio.
