Mrs. Elizabeth Roseboro Donaldson affectionately known to her daughters as “Queen
Elizabeth”, and known to her family and friends as “Lib” or “Lizzie” was born in Rock Hill,
South Carolina on July 25, 1933 to the late Marshall and Alberta Roseboro. On the evening of
August 12, 2022, God called Elizabeth to her Heavenly Home from labor to reward after a long
battle with Alzheimer’s Disease at her home while surrounded by family.
Elizabeth was educated in the Charlotte City Schools and graduated from West Charlotte High
School in 1951. She was a dedicated and lifelong member of First Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist
Church and served faithfully until her illness.
Elizabeth was also a dedicated Past Matron of the Eastern Star Amaranth Chapter #663, member
of Golden Circle and The Daughters. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law,
aunt and friend. She enjoyed being the counselor to anyone who asked her for her advice and
was very patient in listening to your situation but would tell you what she thought was best for
you. She was a fashionable dresser. Hair, accessories, shoes always had to be in place before she
left home. She was a very private person who loved her family and enjoyed spending time with
family and friends.
Elizabeth met and married the late Charlie P. Donaldson who became the love of her life! They
wed on April 1, 1956 in York County, South Carolina. Out of this holy bond were born two
daughters, Valinda C. Donaldson and Pamela D. Richardson, Vivian C. Conner (step-daughter)
and Harold Johnson (step-son).
Elizabeth and Charlie were always a team and they both were employed by North Carolina
Federal Savings and Loan Association for many years. After Charlie’s death on January 26,
1986, she continued to work even through the merger with First Union until she retired.
Elizabeth was also preceded in death by her brother Elbert Roseboro, and step-son Harold
Johnson.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her life and memory: her daughters Valinda Donaldson and Pamela
Richardson, a loving sister: Doretha Davis; three sisters-in-law: Rossie Roseboro, Dale
