Ernest Funderburk

Ernest Funderburk, the son of the late Fate and Evelyn McNair Funderburk was born on June 27, 1944 in Lancaster, SC. He was the tenth child of thirteen children. He fell asleep in death on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Big Elm Nursing Retirement Center in Kannapolis, NC.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Fate and Evelyn McNair Funderburk; sisters, Mary Funderburke, Shirley Funderburke, Margaret Hunter, Elizabeth Funderburk and a brother, Carson Funderburk.

Loved by many and forgotten by none, Ernest is survived by his son, Anthony Mitchell of Atlanta, GA; stepdaughter, Francine of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Utha Johnson of Charlotte, NC and Metty Bittle of Richmond, VA; brothers, Jimmy (Patricia) Funderburk of Charlotte, NC; Robert (Kathleen) Funderburke of Ruther Glen, VA, William Funderburk of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Martha Matthews of Charlotte, NC and Rosa (Tomilper) Streater of Chesterfield, SC, grandchildren Antonio Mitchell and Alayna Mitchell of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
