Eula M. Mayfield

EULA MAE MAYFIELD was born February 11, 1952 in Charlotte, North Carolina and departed her life on May 12, 2024 at Atrium Health Mercy Hospital. She was the loving daughter of the late Mary Mayfield.

Eula received her education in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School district. She was a homemaker and lovingly raised her son, Jerome, in the Cherry neighborhood. She also loved to bake, and everyone looked forward to her coconut cake and sweet potato pie every Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Eula lived in the Cherry and Tarleton hills neighborhoods. She loved her communities, the families and especially the children. She lived in Cherry with her mother and family for over 30 years. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for many years. Eula loved her church and would often share Pastor Cuthbert-son’s messages with family and friends, and she encouraged and taught her son to honor the church and to honor God.

Eula was the family historian and could remember names and events from 40 years prior. She was a very loving person with a big smile and an even bigger heart. She never met a stranger and would greet everyone with down-home friendliness. And most of all, Eula loved the Lord. Her home is filled with scriptures, pictures of Christ and beautiful reminders of the Lord’s promise.

Eula was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Mayfield and her brother, Arthur Mayfield. She leaves to cherish precious memories her son, Jerome Mayfield who cared for his mother until her passing; her devoted cousins, Deborah Brewer, Charlotte, NC; Cleo Brewer (Kennia), Atlanta, GA; a special family friend, Clinton Morgan and the Morgan family.
