Dr. Everett Moore, Jr., nicknamed “Teddy”, was born on September 12, 1957, in Brooklyn, New York at Kings County hospital, to the Late Bishop Evert Moore and Evangelist Ann E. Moore.
According to his parents and others, Everett was always a special child, loved by all. At the age of six, he said to his mother (Ann), “God wants you low” — not meaning short in stature, but rather God wants her and others to be humble.
Everett was an A/B honor roll student in the New York City Public School System. In 1975, he graduated from Jamaica High School in Jamaica, Queens, New York.
Growing up as a youth in South Ozone Park, Queens, and under his father’s guidance and leadership as his scoutmaster and baseball coach; Everett always excelled in everything he put heart and mind to. With his brother Anthony on the same Little League baseball team (Tigers), Teddy was the best shortstop player we had ever seen. Eventually, in 1974, Everett was scouted by the Dodgers Minor League.
After graduating from high school, Everett enrolled in pre-med courses at Lehman College in The Bronx, New York.
At an early age, he dedicated his life to the Lord and was a true man of God. While sharing, preaching, and teaching the Gospel throughout the New York Metropolitan area, many lives were touched and many souls were saved.
In his young adult years, Everett faced difficult and trying times, but the Lord brought him through. During this time, he was inspired by God to write, compose, and sing gospel music, much of which he believed to have influenced several of today’s familiar gospel artists.
Introduced by a relative, Everett and Mariamma communicated through a series of letters overseas, and later married in 1993, and from that holy union came Joshua. His wife, Mariamma, of 32 years has dedicated her entire life to God and her husband through sickness and in health.
Everett attended the Tabernacle Bible Institute where he studied for several years. In 1998 and 1999, he obtained a Master of Arts in Theology and a Master of Arts in Cross-cultural studies, respectively, from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. Everett later received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from International Community Seminary & College in Columbia, South Carolina.
Dr. Everett Moore, Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Evert Moore, and his daughter, Tiffany S. Moore.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his wife, Mariamma Moore and son, Joshua S. Moore; Cheryl A. Moore, mother of Tiffany and son, Everette E. Moore (Yaritza); his bonus children, Juhan Brown, Tamieeka Brown, and Derrick Moore; his sisters, Yvonne Moore and Dorothy Griffin; his brothers, Anthony G. Moore (Margarette) and Dwayne Moore (Ivelisse); his sisters-in-law, Saramma Mathew (Abraham), Rosamma John (John), Mollykutty Joy (Joy), and Joyce James (James); eight grandchildren, Ladasha Moore, Justis Retamar, Rhamel Hall, Alexis Hall, Tianna Moore, Mikayla Moore, Miracle Moore, and Rose Kaercher Moore; his aunts, Ella Robinson, Nancy Lawrence, and Ida Brown; his uncles, Valentino Norman (Dale) and Al Robinson (Callie); dear, loving friends, Leela George and Apostle David Boyd; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Dr. Everett Moore, Jr. (Teddy) will be greatly missed. He was a loving, kind, gentle, funny, thoughtful, honest, God-fearing, and sweet soul. Your legacy will continue to be blessed and cherished.
- Your friends and family, with love.
