Frances C. Willett

December 29, 1944 — August 7, 2025

Frances C. Willett was born December 29, 1944, to the late Nathaniel and Florence ‘Irene’ Thomas in Hughesville {Bucktown} Maryland.  She transitioned from this life on August 7, 2025, calmly at home in Charlotte, North Carolina.

She received her education in the Charles County Public school system and as a teenager began her career in the food service industry.  In 1967, she married Leroy Willett, and from this union she was blessed with one child, her son, Leroy Willett.
She loved gardening, especially her Hosta’s, and kept beautiful landscaping. She worked in various restaurants for many years until

retirement, as the head cook at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. Frances loved cooking and baking, and making others happy.  She loved preparing delicious meals for family and friends, church gatherings and outreaches.  She loved to travel and take pictures!

Frances was dedicated to acts of service all her life.  As a daughter, sister, mother, wife, aunt, Godmother, grandmother, great grandmother, Usher, Deaconess, prayer warrior, praiser, missionary, cook, organizer, original Door Dasher, and friend.

She gave her life to the Lord in the early 80’s and joined St. Mathews Free Gospel church and was a faithful member.  She moved to Charlotte, with her son in 2010 and found a new church home, Oak Grove Baptist church.  She was faithful, giving, and an inspiration of mercy, hospitality, praise, and encouragement.  Frances is preceded in death by her parents, aunts, uncles, nieces/nephews, cousins, husband Leroy and his parents/ siblings, Sisters:  Bertha Mae, Vannie, Veronica, Brother Joe; and In-laws.

“C -girl” leaves behind to cherish her memories and continue the legacy of caregiving:  Her son, Leroy Willett, Daughter in Law, Monique Willett, Grandchildren: Joseph Willett, Timothy Willett, Mysia Jackson – Husband Christopher Jackson, (Amyre Barker, Shekia Long); Great grandchildren; Mckenzy, Christopher, Chandler, Corinna and Zayden.  Siblings: James Thomas and Delores Harrod; a host of Nieces, Nephews, cousins, and church family and friends.
