Franklin D. Johnson, Sr. (Simp & Longhorn) was born April 10, 1941 in Augusta, Georgia to Robert and Nora Johnson and he was the youngest of their 5 children. The family moved to Charlotte when he was 8 years old. He was an excellent student and had a natural gift for math, able to do calculations in his head while others needed pen and paper. He worked for many years with Charlotte Water Department, Eckerd Corporation and Family Dollar. In 1998, he realized a lifelong dream to become self employed as he and his wife Doris started F and D Cleaning Service. Simp developed a love for golf at a young age and became a very good player, having won several local amateur tournaments. He also enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and traveling. He was a very wise man and never hesitated to share his views and give advice. He was a true family man and he will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris Johnson, a brother, LM Johnson (wife Willie Jay),a son, Franklin D. Johnson, Jr.(wife Juanita), a daughter, Francina D. Johnson, 4 grandchildren (Auburn, Willie, Dominique & Miranda) ,one great grandchild (Kacidee) an uncle and aunt (Matt and Grace) and a host of sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews.
