George Wright

September 7, 1940 — January 26, 2021

George Wright was a compassionate and caring man, who gave unconditional love to his family and friends. He was well-loved by everyone that knew him. George always said, "there's a silver lining in every storm." His most treasured saying was, "Sometimes GOD clams the storm and sometimes GOD lets the storm rage and calms the Child." He always made himself available to listen and advise people. George passed away on January 26, 2021, at the age of 80. He was born on September 7, 1940, to the late William "Bill" Wright and the late Eva Louise Harris-Brisbon. George grew up in Charlotte, NC, where he lived with his father and extended family. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Bobbie Jean Harris Wright of Charlotte, NC, and son Donald Edward Harris of Charlotte, NC; brother Robert M. Brisbon of Baltimore, MD, and sister Tischie Louise Brisbon of Baltimore, MD. He was survived by his two sons, Kenneth R. Harris (Eleanor) and Michael Harris (Cheryl); two daughters, Geraldine Miller (Richard) and Barbara Harris; one brother, Willis Brisbon of Augusta, GA; two sisters, Amber Bowers (Tyrone) and Debra Molock (Reginald) of Baltimore, MD; and sister-in-law, Donna Brisbon, also of Baltimore, MD. George loved vacationing at the beach and anything cowboy or western-related. He was employed by the City of Charlotte for 32 years as a Street Maintenance Engineer. After retiring, he returned to the City of Charlotte to work part-time. George was a Christian and always welcomed people at the door of the church with the brightest smile and friendliest handshake. He enjoyed singing in the Senior Choir and the Men's Choir. He was an active member of Clement Memorial AME Zion Church. He served on several boards at the church: the Usher board, Missionary, Trustee, and the Pastor's Steward. George took pride in his family and always made time for them.
