On Friday August 2, 2019 at 10:19pm, Geraldine Kennedy Phifer heard the Master call her from labor to reward and with a joyful heart and surrounded by her loving family, she quickly answered. Geraldine was born November 29, 1941 to the late Jessie Kennedy and Viola Brown Kennedy.Geraldine was a proud graduate of West Charlotte High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was employed with Duke Energy for 30 years and served as a Chief Judge at Precinct 42 for the Board of Elections.Mrs. Phifer grew up in Wilson Heights First Church of God and later became a member of Greenville Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church where she served faithfully until her health declined. She was a dedicated member to the Mass Choir, enjoyed working with the children at Camp Greenville, a past President of the Deaconess Board, active member of the Women Homes and Oversees Missionary Society and a Class Leader.She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Dr. Reece Bernard Phifer; one daughter, Vickie M. Lee; two brothers, Thomas Kennedy and Sterling Kennedy.Geraldine leaves to cherish her fond memories, two daughters, Valerie D. Phifer and Shawn B. Phifer; five grandchildren, Darrin B. Phifer (Tempestt), Danielle S. Phifer (Sedrick), Laurelia J. Lee, Roderick S. Phifer-Pitts and Matthew H. Pitts; four great-grandchildren, Benjamin R. Phifer, Madison M. Lee, McKenzie M. Lee and Ian R. Phifer; two brothers, Jessie Kennedy (Shirley) and Gary Lee Kennedy; one sister, Bertha Kennedy; one brother in law, John Phifer; two sister in laws, Jeanette Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
