Harold "Jay" Merriweather

Harold Jay Merriweather, 62 years old, passed away on Thursday, September 18th, 2025, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, N.C.

Harold was born on November 23rd, 1962, in Waukegan, Illinois to the late Will and Thelma (Evans) Merriweather. He was the fourth of five 

children. He professed his life to Christ at an early age at Gideon Missionary Baptist Church. He was affectionately known as Jay.

Jay married his beautiful wife, Stephanie (Ecxford) Merriweather, on February 15th, 1984, and from this union 3 children were born. The family 

relocated to Charlotte, N.C in 1999. Jay loved to work with hands by drawing, welding, painting, and refinishing furniture. He loved watching horse 

racing whether it was in person or on tv. If you knew him, you knew he loved his family and would do anything for them.

Jay leaves to cherish his loving memory the love of his life, his wife Stephanie Merriweather that he has been with for 45 years. His 3 children, 

Candice (Erwin) Brannon, Janetra Merriweather, Jayson (Sanjuana) Merriweather, 16 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. His siblings, Will 

Merriweather Jr., Mariah Merriweather, Jacqueline (Eddie) Williams, Carol Taylor, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, family, and friends.

Jay was preceded in death by both of his parents Thelma and Will Merriweather, and his mother-in-law, Ruth Ecxford.
