Harriet Blackwell Simonds (76) of 420 Woodvale Place died Friday, October 23, 2015 at the home of Jesse & DeVera Alston, under Hospice Care. She’s the daughter of Whiteford & Willie Blackwell. Homegoing service will be Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Walls Memorial AME Zion Church, 2722 Bancroft Street, Charlotte NC 28206. Viewing will be held at 10:00am; Service immediately after starting at 11:00am. Rev. Milton A. Williams, Officiating. She was a member of Walls Memorial AME Zion Church. Survivors include; son, Brian Keith Blackwell of Georgia & daughter, DeVera Alston (Jesse) of Charlotte, NC, brothers & sisters, Faye Gantt, Claretha Blackwell, Birdie Jo Blackwell, Mollie Massey, Veronica George and Obie Blackwell. The family will be at the home of Jesse & DeVera Alston, 5421 Kerry Lane, Charlotte NC 28215. In support of Breast Cancer awareness the family is requesting that everyone wear something pink.
