May 1, 1933 — February 27, 2023

O B I T U A R Y

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted…” (Jesus’ words) Matthew 5:4
A host of Angels of the Lord came for a beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Aunt
on Monday February 27, 2023, to escort her into her heavenly home.

Helen Boyd Floyd, affectionately known as “Ann” by her family was born May 1 to Lillian Boyd in Macon, North Carolina, in the year 1933. Helen received her formal education at John R. Hawkins School in Warrenton, North Carolina and later received her college education at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina.

Helen began working early in her life to help support her family. She later traveled north and moved to
Hackensack, New Jersey to live with a cousin. To be closer to her family, Helen subsequently returned
south to Charlotte, North Carolina.

In 1957 Helen met James E. Floyd. They later married and from this union a little girl was born, Valerie
Floyd.

Helen began her profession with AME Zion Publishing House. Later in her career, she transitioned to
working for Dr. Emery Rann, M.D., where she served as his receptionist. Lastly, she worked with the City
of Charlotte, where she retired after twenty-eight and a half years.

After retirement, Helen joined many auxiliaries to include Youth After 55 Group, West Charlotte Center
and the Pacesetters at The Park Church. She also was a member of the Zeta Amicae, where she
actively participated for over 40 years.

Helen joined Second Baptist Church at an early age in Macon, North Carolina. In 1965, she joined
University Park Baptist Church. Helen enjoyed serving her church as its bookkeeper and many other
duties as needed. She added to her servanthood, as she worked in the finance room until her health
began to fail. Helen was a faithful bible study member. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 91.

Helen is preceded in death by her mother Lillian Boyd and brother Percy Boyd. She leaves to celebrate
her legacy, her daughter Valerie Floyd, Grandson Brenton Floyd, Granddaughter Bria Floyd, Niece
Fenice Boyd, Nephew Wayne Boyd, and a host of other relatives and friends.

On behalf of Helen B. Floyd and the family we would like to express our sincere and heartfelt appreciation for all of your prayers, encouragement, outpouring of support, and expressions of love. We are grateful for your presence as we celebrate and reflect on the memories of our loved one.
