Hezekiah C. Chisholm, Jr., was born on April 12, 1939, as the only son to the late Hezekiah C. Chisholm, Sr. and Ola Chisholm. He was the fourth child of five, all sisters.
He departed this life on February 6,2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Mildred Washington and Inez Vance and his loving grandson Marcus Arthur Fewell.
Hezekiah graduated with honors from Second Ward High School in 1956 and completed a BS Degree in General Science and Chemistry from Johnson C. Smith University 1962.During his time at Smith he became a member of the Omega Psi Fi Fraternity.
He later joined the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. Prior to his assignment to Vietnam, he married his sweetheart, Doris Elizabeth Ford. And, completed his military career as Staff Sergeant and returned to Charlotte, North Carolina.
Hezekiah and Doris went on to have two children, Keith and Kim, and enjoyed a marriage that lasted 61 years. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life from his childhood at the Presbyterian Church to AME Zion Church where he and his young family attended for many years. His wife eventually became a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, and they were able to merge their faith with love and understanding.
Hezekiah retired after 30years in the Gaston County School System where he dedicated his time and effort to helping children. He enjoyed teaching traditional science as well as earth science.
He has served in the AME Zion Church as trustee and member of the Board. He was a kind, protective, loving and dedicated father, husband, and grandfather.
He is survived by his devoted wife, who will mourn him, and his son, Dr. Keith G. Chisholm, daughter Kimberly G. Fewell, granddaughters Kennedy Grace Chisholm, Karsyn Gabrielle Chisholm, grandson Malcolm Hezekiah Fewell, two sisters Juanita Wood and Barbara Goines, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of loving friends.
