Irene Mcilwain

Charlotte, N.C.– On Sunday, August 4, 2019 at the age of 69, Irene McIlwain passed away peacefully at Atrium Health - Mercy Hospital surrounded by her family.   Irene was born on November 14, 1949 in Charlotte, NC to Linwood and Sarah Mitchell.  She was the third oldest of nine children.    She graduated from Second Ward High School, class of 1968 and attended Central Piedmont Community  College.    She was a faithful Jehovah Witness since 1987. She enjoyed her weekly bible study and fellowshipping with her Kingdom Hall Family.     She was very creative, loved watching music videos, reality tv and learning how to navigate social media with her grandchildren!  She enjoyed taking care of her plants, visiting her sisters and going shopping for accessories.      Her daily debates with her sisters and daughter kept her mind sharp and has created great memories with laughter for years to come...   Irene was predeceased by her parents, Linwood and Sarah Mitchell; two sons, Ennis Crawford and Roddericke McIlwain; one brother Lindell Mitchell.   She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Robbin McIlwain; daughter, Ereka C. Brim; sisters, Philesteen Mitchell, Odessa Mitchell, Ozella Anderson, Sherry Mitchell and Nina Mitchell; brothers, James Mitchell Sr., and Sammie Mitchell; two grandchildren, Terrence Brim Jr., and Jamia Blakney.  She was dearly loved by all her nieces, nephews and friends.     In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Kidney Foundation, c/o Irene McIlwain, Charlotte, NC.
